Everyone has heard of grilling season, but in Wisconsin and at Bay Shore Inn grilling season is all 12 months of the year. We have outdoor gas grills on site at Bay Shore Inn ready for your homemade vacation grilling feasts.
Grilling is great for anyone who wants to eat healthier, spend some time preparing a meal with family and friends, or save some money by making large family meals. Whether you’re visiting Bay Shore Inn in a swimsuit and flip flops or snow boots and a winter coat, we’ll have grills ready for you to grill up your favorite meals with some of our favorite ingredients.
Local ingredients for Grilling Season
Looking for some grilling tips? Up in Door County we have plenty of local ingredients and shops to stock your Bay Shore Inn suite for a night of grilling. Start at Marchant’s Meats in Sturgeon Bay, where they provide fresh, high-quality prime cuts of meat, freshly ground hamburger, and marinated chicken breasts. And also, because you’re in Wisconsin you have to try one (or maybe three or four) of the 20 different kinds of brats they offer. Some of their top-selling specialty brats are the Cherry (so Door County!), Tailgater, and Jalapeno Cheddar. Once you’ve grabbed everything for the grill, check out their jerky, beef sticks, and deli section with pasta, potato salads, soups, and fresh pizzas. They also have a selection of grocery items to stock up on for your Door County stay.
Grab some cheese for those Marchant’s Meats burgers from Renard’s Cheese on your way up to Sturgeon Bay (don’t forget the curds, spreads and other goodies), and bread, rolls or other tasty baked goods from Scaturo’s to complete your grilled feast.
Catch (and Grill) your Dinner
How does a grilled cedar plank salmon or lemon dill fish dinner sound? It would sound even better if you caught it fresh out of Sturgeon or Green bays! If a day on the water reeling some big ones in followed by an evening of grilling your catch sounds like the perfect way to spend one of your days up in Door County, check out the captains with the Sturgeon Bay Sport Fishing Association of Door County or several of the other fishing charter services in the area.
Veggie Tales
For our vegetarian friends or anyone who just wants to include some tasty fresh veggie to their meal, head to the Sturgeon Bay Farmers Market to pick up all of the seasonal items to add green, and well…all of the beautiful colors…to your dinner. Sturgeon Bay’s Farmers Market runs June 5 through October 16 on Saturdays at Market Square from 8:30am to noon. Get there early to get the best selection of the day.Get ready for Grilling Season
No matter what you’re grilling, the fresh, local options in Door County make for a great meal to bring a family or group of friends together for a slower-paced relaxing evening. During the summer, Bay Shore Inn has several grills throughout the property so you can enjoy the beautiful view while grilling and eating at one of our nearby picnic tables, near the fire pit or on the beach. During the winter, our grills are located in the parking lot for easy, year-round grilling access. Next time we smell that familiar char wafting into the lobby, don’t be surprised if we swing out to see what you’re grilling up!
