Everyone knows about Fish Fry Friday in Wisconsin, but not everyone knows about the equally as appetizing and quintessentially Wisconsin Supper Club Saturday. For Fish Fry Friday it is what it sounds like. You get a traditional fish fry with some of the classic sides and hopefully an old fashioned or maybe a beer. But on Supper Club Saturday you have so many more options to get the full experience…everything from appetizers, bread baskets and relish trays to steak entrees, fully loaded baked potatoes, and dessert drinks. During your stay at Bay Shore Inn, there are several options to get the full Supper Club Saturday experience at supper clubs in Sturgeon Bay. If you can’t pick just one, you might have to go for a Supper Club Saturday meal on a Wednesday or Thursday!
Sturgeon Bay’s Supper Clubs
Our personal favorite is the Nightingale Supper Club right here in Sturgeon Bay. They’ve been serving supper club staples since 1913, and are just a couple minutes away from Bay Shore Inn. We recommend getting there early for their happy hour and you can’t go wrong with their Renard’s deep fried cheese curds to start. Like a true supper club, their Saturday night special is a prime rib and don’t forget about the garlic mashed potatoes. To make your decision even easier, Bay Shore Inn offers $40 gift certificates to our guests for $32, which is a 20% discount.
The Mill Supper Club is also a favorite in Sturgeon Bay. They serve traditional supper club fare with a German twist, including steaks, seafood, pasta bowls, Schnitzel, and Beef Rouladen. They’ve been serving modern and traditional American and German cuisine to families in Door County since 1930. Their Saturday special also features prime rib, but you can’t get to that part of the menu before looking over the appetizer menu. We recommend the Currywurst Poutine and the Giant Bavarian soft pretzel. And speaking of things you have to try at the Mill, we have one thing to say…mammoth ice cream drinks!
On the lake side of Sturgeon Bay is Donny’s Glidden Lodge Restaurant where they combine family friendly service with quality Midwestern food. They serve choice Black Angus cuts of meat and use the finest and freshest ingredients in all their dishes. Their Saturday special is the prime rib but we suggest looking at the menu and considering the pork chops or lamb chop. Steak lovers, you have to “Gliddenize” your cut by adding a Merlot sauce and candied onions atop toast points and Gorgonzola cheese. And who doesn’t love a good wedge salad or hot bacon spinach salad to start?
Grill Up Homemade Supper Club Favorites at Bay Shore Inn
And if you want to try your hand at crafting the perfect Supper Club Saturday meal yourself, all the Bay Shore Inn rooms come with a full kitchen to prepare your favorites. We suggest stopping at Marchant’s Meats in Sturgeon Bay to get your favorite cuts of meat, and heading to Bay Shore Inn where we have grills available for you to get those perfect grill marks. Prep a classic Caesar salad, some baked potatoes, and your favorite vegetable side before grabbing a full plate and a spot on your deck to enjoy the views of Sturgeon Bay during dinner.
