3 Things To Do in Sturgeon Bay for Everyone in the Family

You’ve booked your summer stay at Bay Shore Inn, and now you’re waiting for the temps to go up and the sun to come out. But in the meantime, why not spend some time daydreaming about your summer trip and start checking out what you want to see, do, and eat in Sturgeon Bay! We put together our top three stops for everyone in the family plus some stops for if the whole family wants to stick together.

Spend Saturday with the Entire Family

Scaturo's

First check out Scaturo’s Baking Co. and Café. Their breakfast menu includes omelets, breakfast sandwiches, skillets, and all their fresh baked goodies. They also have a lunch menu if you decide to sleep in or make breakfast in your Bay Shore Inn suite before you head out for the day.

After filling up, take the family to one of the Door County Land trust properties in the area. The Door County Land Trust is a nonprofit organization the works to protect Door County’s open spaces, scenic beauty, and ecological integrity. The closest property to Bay Shore Inn is the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Nature Preserve.

End the day exploring on the water with Peninsula Kayak Company. You can tour the caves at Cave Point Park, the bluffs of Peninsula Park, or the secret wetlands of the Logan Creek State Natural Area.

Fun Things to do with the Kids

DC Adventure

We know the kids will love The Gnoshery in downtown Sturgeon Bay! It’s northeastern Wisconsin’s first board game café and features hobby and classic board games while serving up tea, coffee, smoothies, and other treats.

Next up head to Door County Adventure Center for an afternoon of zip lining, kayaking, paddle boarding, and other adventures. If the kids still aren’t tired out yet, head to The Farm, which is four miles north of Sturgeon Bay on Highway 57, and is a living museum of rural America. Visitors can see baby goats, lambs, and piglets. There are also hiking trails and relaxing gardens.

Fun Things To Do for Moms in Door County

Before heading out for a mom’s day in Sturgeon Bay, head to Get Real Café for a yummy breakfast burrito, house granola and fruit, or avocado toast. Don’t forget a refreshing fresh juice. Next stop has to be Door County Coffee and Tea for some fuel for the day ahead. Our favorite brew has to be the Breakfast Blend!

Next stop for the moms, or anyone in the family who likes reds or whites, is Door Peninsula Winery. Located just across the street from Door County Coffee is their winery in an historic 1868 schoolhouse. Taste more than 45 fruit, varietal-fruit blend, and premium grape wines during your stop. Tastings are all day (fun!) and tours run from 10am-4pm daily.

Fun Things To Do for Dads in Door County

Idlewild Golf Course

Start the day off with an early tee time at Idlewild Golf Course. Their 18-hole championship golf course is only minutes from Sturgeon Bay featuring wonderful views, and beautiful manicured and maintained greens and bunkers. Then head back into town for lunch at Kitty O’Reillys Irish Pub. They have a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, and fish fry, plus some of their favorite Irish dishes.

And the best way to end the day is on the water on a Reel Impression Sportfishing Charters. You have two options when picking how to end your day – trying to reel in a big one or enjoy a relaxing and informative sunset cruise through Sturgeon Bay. Either way it’ll be a great end to the day.

Fun Things To Do for Grandparents in Sturgeon Bay

When everyone else heads out on their adventures, the grandparents might want something to do at a different pace. The Door County Maritime Museum is a great place to learn about Sturgeon Bay’s rich maritime roots. The museum features interactive exhibits, and tours of the historic tugboat John Purves. Another great way to explore Sturgeon Bay is to head to one of the two state parks nearby. Potawatomi State Park is 1,200 acres of gently rolling land on the shore of Sturgeon Bay. The park is perfect for bicycling, canoeing, picnicking, and hiking. If you want to explore with a view of Lake Michigan, head to Whitefish Dunes State Park. It has trails through the sand dunes and forest, as well as a nature center and beach. End the day at The Mill Supper Club for a classic Wisconsin Supper Club experience.
