Door County Golf Courses
Cherry Hills Golf & Lodge – 5 mins.
Right here in Sturgeon Bay, Cherry Hills is an 18-hole, par 72 public golf course. The Cherry Hills course has gentle elevation changes, strategically placed bunkers, and rolling greens that are approachable for all player levels. Cherry Hills focuses on course conditions and player experience. Other amenities include a lodge with panoramic views overlooking the golf course, a bar and grill with indoor and outdoor seating, grass practice facility and a fully stocked golf shop.
Stonehedge Golf – 25 mins
A short 25 minutes north in Egg Harbor, Stonehedge offers a family friendly 9-hole course. The medium-length, 2,100-yard course is perfect for a beginner golfer working on getting their ball up to the green and making par. But be advised, the greens are Stonehedge’s defense and will challenge even the most seasoned golfer. The course has two par 3’s and seven par 4’s. Stonehedge’s Clubhouse Bar & Grill is located inside the Club House and is open year-round – offering food and a full bar.
The Orchards at Egg Harbor – 25 mins.
Also in Egg Harbor, The Orchards is an 18-hole championship golf course on 200 scenic Door County acres. The course is 7,200 yards from the back tees and winds through mature trees, orchards and rolling meadows – not to be overshadowed by a 5-acre lake. The design is rated 74.4 from the tips, but there are also four sets of tees at each hole for players of all skill levels to find an appropriate challenge to tee off on. The clubhouse is a great place to relax, socialize, dine and entertain, featuring a full-service bar and grill, golf pro shop, locker rooms with shower facilities, and event spaces.
Maxwelton Braes Golf Course – 30 mins.
Just a little further north to Bailey’s Harbor is Maxwelton Braes Golf Course, an 18-hole championship course that is one of the best in the county. It’s been called a “golfer’s paradise” and is a long-standing tradition in Door County. The 6,041-yard, par 70 course features a variety of green contours, green surrounds, green side bunkers, wide fairways, a few short par 4s and par 5s, and some longer, challenging holes to test all skill levels. Maxwelton Braes is family owned and also features tennis course, pickle ball courts, indoor event facilities and an onsite restaurant.
Peninsula State Park Golf Course – 35 mins.
Peninsula State Park Golf Course started as a six-hole course that eventually expanded into an 18-hole course featuring views of Eagle Harbor and the Village of Ephraim. During a game, golfers get to meander through beautifully sculpted holes and scenic landscape of white cedar, oak, beech and maple trees. Golfers can also get glimpses of the Niagara Escarpment from the course. Peninsula State Park also offers an award-winning short course (six holes, par 3) designed for golfers of all ages and abilities. Peninsula State Park Golf Course also features a driving range, pro shop, golf lessons, clubhouse restaurant, on course food and beverage cart, and 10th Tee Halfway House.
Deer Run Resort and Golf Course – 1 hr. 45 mins.
Deer Run Resort is a little further from Bay Shore Inn than the rest, but definitely worth making a day trip north to Washington Island. The nine-hole, par 36 course is set amidst maples, towering pines and a glistening pond. The course has been reconfigured to offer more doglegs, challenging greens and elevated tee boxes. Deer Run also offers gas and pull carts, club rentals, a putting green, pub, pro shop, and an 18-hole miniature golf course. Tee times are not required, but you may want to call in advance to check on any play delays.
