Ahh…the lovely colors of fall. Before long, Door County will once again be adorned with fairytale-like scenery, putting on a bewitching display of reds, yellows, and oranges throughout the autumn season. Amid the smell of bonfires and sound of crunching leaves under your feet, there are several fun and festive Door County events you won’t want to miss this fall!
On October 7 & 8, 2017, also known as Columbus Day weekend, you’ll have the chance to witness one of the most unique aspects of the Door Peninsula: the sheer number of lighthouses.
Although seemingly everywhere you look, almost all Door County lighthouses aren’t open to public viewing most of the year because they are still in use, operated by the U.S. Coast Guard.
But you’re in luck, as the last three years the Door County Maritime Museum has held a Fall Lighthouse Festival to give visitors and locals the chance to get a better look at the impressive beacons. There are several tours being offered this year by land or by sea, allowing you to engage with Door County history up close and personal.
Tickets to this popular event are already on sale, so be sure to contact the Door County Maritime Museum to reserve your spot!
Also held on October 7 & 8, 2017, there’s a fun-filled, fall weekend celebration waiting for you in Egg Harbor…for free! The perfect day two event for your long weekend visit, Pumpkin Patch has so much for kids and adults alike.
Seasonal favorites include live music, pumpkin and scarecrow displays, a silent auction, even local artists and craftspeople displaying their work.
And there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained with activities like face painting, carnival rides, and autumn-themed games of all shapes and sizes.
It’s truly a great festival – find a full schedule of Pumpkin Patch events here.
A community-wide Halloween celebration, Thrills on Third will be held on October 28, 2017 on (you guessed it) Third Avenue. We hope you’re ready for the spookiest, goofiest, most creative and exciting Halloween festival around!
